What Happens During Deliverance? A Look Inside a Deliverance360 Inner Healing and Deliverance Session

One of the most common questions people ask is, “What actually happens during a deliverance session?”

Many people imagine something dramatic or frightening, often based on what they have seen in movies or television. The reality is that biblical deliverance and inner healing ministry is usually much more personal, prayerful, and Holy Spirit-led than people expect.

Every deliverance minister approaches ministry somewhat differently. Those differences are often influenced by four factors:

  • The gifts and calling God has placed on the minister.
  • The minister’s personality and life experiences.
  • The minister’s vocational background and training.
  • The degree to which the minister remains humble and dependent upon the Holy Spirit.
  • At Deliverance360, we believe that true deliverance and inner healing can only be accomplished through the power of the Holy Spirit and the authority of Jesus Christ.

The Apostle Paul reminds believers in Ephesians 6 that our weapons are spiritual:

“Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

He goes on to describe the armor available to every believer:

    • The helmet of salvation
    • The breastplate of righteousness
    • The shield of faith
    • The shoes of the gospel of peace
    • The sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God
    • Prayer and supplication in the Spirit

Deliverance ministry is not about human power. It is about partnering with the Holy Spirit and applying the authority Jesus Christ has given His followers.

How Long Does a Deliverance Session Last?

    Every person is different.

Some sessions may last approximately one hour, while others may extend to four or five hours depending on the depth of trauma, emotional wounds, spiritual oppression, and the direction the Holy Spirit leads the ministry team.

At Deliverance360, all deliverance and inner healing sessions are offered free of charge.

Our goal is not to rush the process but to minister according to what the Holy Spirit desires to accomplish in each person’s life.

    Step 1: Welcome and Prayer

The session begins by welcoming the individual seeking ministry.

We open with prayer, inviting the presence of the Holy Spirit and submitting the entire session to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We acknowledge that only God can bring true healing and freedom.

During this time, we may ask a few foundational questions, such as:

    • Do you believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God?
    • Do you believe Jesus is the only way to the Father?
    • Have you been baptized?
    • Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?

These questions help establish a spiritual foundation for the ministry session.

Step 2: Listening to the Person’s Story

One of the most important parts of deliverance ministry is listening.

We invite the individual to share their experiences, struggles, symptoms, and concerns. During this process, we ask guided questions to help identify potential spiritual open doors, emotional wounds, traumatic experiences, generational patterns, and areas requiring healing.

This portion of the session may last 10 to 15 minutes, an hour, or sometimes longer.

The goal is not simply to gather information but to allow the Holy Spirit to reveal root issues that may need to be addressed.

Step 3: Repentance, Forgiveness, and Breaking Soul Ties

Before spiritual freedom can occur, many people need to walk through what we often call “cleanup prayers.”

    These prayers typically include:

    Repentance

Confessing personal sins and turning away from anything that has opened doors to spiritual oppression.

    Forgiveness

Releasing individuals who have caused pain, abuse, rejection, betrayal, or hurt.

Forgiveness is often one of the most important parts of the ministry process because unforgiveness can become a significant source of spiritual bondage.

    Breaking Ungodly Soul Ties

Many people have unhealthy spiritual and emotional attachments that were formed through:

    • sexual relationships,
    • abusive relationships,
    • unhealthy friendships,
    • manipulation,
    • control,
    • or trauma.

These soul ties are renounced and broken through prayer in the name of Jesus Christ.

Depending on a person’s life experiences, this process can be extensive and highly personal.

    Step 4: Renunciation Prayers

After repentance and forgiveness, we lead the individual through renunciation prayers.

    Renunciation involves verbally rejecting:

    • sinful agreements,
    • occult involvement,
    • witchcraft,
    • false religions,
    • ungodly covenants,
    • generational patterns,
    • and any known spiritual open doors.

During this stage, individuals sometimes begin to react strongly.

These reactions, often referred to as manifestations, can include:

    • excessive yawning,
    • coughing,
    • trembling,
    • shaking,
    • sudden emotional release,
    • unusual fatigue,
    • headaches,
    • sensations of heat or cold,
    • feelings of pressure,
    • or other physical sensations.

Not every person manifests in the same way. Some people experience dramatic reactions, while others experience quiet peace and freedom.

    Step 5: Addressing Spiritual Oppression

After renunciation, we ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any remaining areas that require ministry.

If spiritual oppression is present, we identify the legal rights or open doors that may have allowed oppression to occur.

The individual is then guided through specific prayers to:

    • renounce the sin,
    • break agreement with the bondage,
    • rebuke the oppression,
    • and close the spiritual door.

Through the authority of Jesus Christ, prayers of deliverance are then ministered.

Our focus is not on demons but on Jesus Christ and His power to set people free.

    Step 6: Inner Healing Ministry

Deliverance is often accompanied by inner healing.

    Many individuals carry:

    • rejection,
    • abandonment,
    • grief,
    • shame,
    • trauma,
    • fear,
    • and painful memories.

We invite the Holy Spirit to minister healing to these wounded areas.

Many people experience profound encounters with God’s love, peace, comfort, and restoration during this stage.

    Step 7: Blessing and Restoration

After ministry is completed, we spend time blessing the individual.

We pray over them, encourage them, and discuss the importance of living a consecrated Christian life.

We often encourage individuals to bless:

    • their family members,
    • their parents,
    • former spouses,
    • people who hurt them,
    • and others mentioned during the session.

Blessing replaces bitterness and helps establish freedom.

The goal is for the former victim to walk forward as a victor through Jesus Christ.

Step 8: Thanksgiving and Closing Prayer

    Every session concludes with thanksgiving.

We thank the Lord Jesus Christ for what He has done and ask the Holy Spirit to continue the healing and freedom process in the days ahead.

We also provide practical guidance for maintaining freedom through:

    • prayer,
    • Bible reading,
    • worship,
    • forgiveness,
    • fellowship,
    • and obedience to God’s Word.
